Known as the king of the rant, Lewis Black uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and animated finger-pointing to skewer anything and anyone that gets under his skin. His comedic brilliance lies in his ability to make people laugh at the absurdities of life, with topics that include current events, social media, politics and anything else that exposes the hypocrisy and madness he sees in the world.

Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, Black grew up in an average, middle-class Jewish family. After high school, he set his sights on all of the big Ivy league schools - Princeton, Yale, Amherst, Williams, Brown and Georgetown. Disappointed that all but Georgetown rejected his applications, he started his college life at the University of Maryland. After a year, he transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill, where he majored in playwriting.

Stand-up was in the cards for this too-old-for-his-years college kid. Shortly after graduation, he moved back to Washington and dabbled in many things, one of which was stand-up comedy.

Black earned his MFA from the Yale School of Drama in '77, and went on to work in NYC as a playwright. By 1990, he was not only writing the plays, but also doing stand-up comedy as their opener. This is the time that his comedy career really took off.

Lewis's unusually acerbic and ranting style won over the producers of Comedy Central Presents in 1998, when he landed his first comedy special. From there he's been an unstoppable force, regaling his audiences with his opinions on religion, politics, and any other topic that happens to rub him the wrong way.

Acting is also in his wheelhouse, with appearances on shows such as Law and Order, The Big Bang Theory, Madoff and Crisis in Six Scenes.

Not only is Black a hilarious comedian and actor - he also has quite the knack for voice work. He was the voice of "Manobrain" in the series Duck Dodgers, produced by Cartoon Network, and also had voice roles in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Inside Out.

Black is funny man in-person, behind the mic and on tape, so it isn't a surprise that he also has a great talent for writing books and recording CDs, both as a playwright and an autobiographer. His penned works include the books Nothing's Sacred, Me of Little Faith and I'm Dreaming of a Black Christmas.
