Funkadesi

Chicago's high energy World Music funk party band Funkadesi returns to City Winery. The ensemble blends their unique signature Indian styles - bhangra, Bollywood, Indian folk - with reggae, funk and Afro-Caribbean grooves. The six-time winner of The Chicago Music Awards, Funkadesi has been lauded by critics and fans alike, even catching the attention of President Obama who noted, "Funkadesi really knows how to get a crowd going." Expect a mix of lush ambient sounds, paired with the band's signature diverse dance tunes.

Zoso - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

Les Nubians is an Afropean, Urban, R&B Grammy-nominated duo composed of sisters Hélène and Célia Faussart from Paris, France. In 1985, the sisters moved with their parents to Chad, Africa. Seven years later, they returned to Bordeaux, France and began singing a cappella, producing poetry slams in Bordeaux and Paris, and singing background vocals for various artists worldwide. To critical acclaim, the duo's debut album Princesses Nubiennes was released by Virgin Records France in 1998. They have become one of the most successful French-language musical groups in the U.S., best known for their Billboard R&B Single "Makeda." Les Nubians were the 1999 Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards winners for Best New Artist, Group or Duo and received two NAACP Image Awards nominations in 2000. To date, Les Nubians have made their home base Brooklyn, NY. They continue to tour internationally, performing at festivals, art centers, theaters and clubs.

Ann Hampton Callaway - This is Cabaret

One of the leading champions of the Great American Songbook, Chicago native Ann Hampton Callaway has made her mark as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress, educator, TV host and producer. Best known for Tony-nominated performance in the hit Broadway musical Swing! (and for writing and singing the theme song to the hit TV series The Nanny), her singing style blends jazz and traditional pop, making her a mainstay in concert halls, theaters and jazz clubs as well as in the recording studio, on television and in film. Callaway wrote songs featured on seven of Barbra Streisand's recent CDs and is the only composer to have collaborated with Cole Porter. She returns to City Winery Chicago for an evening of cabaret standards.

Rik Emmett of Triumph

Rik Emmett gained international recognition as the lead singer/songwriter/guitarist with Triumph. The adjectives "prolific" and "eclectic" frequently pop up in Rik's profiles, after five decades in the biz. Following more than a dozen platinum albums from his Triumph years, he produced 19 more as an independent artist, ranging from rock to blues to jazz to folk to classical. International notoriety earned him entry into three Canadian Halls of Fame, a star on the Walk of Fame in his hometown of Mississauga and he picked up a few "Best Guitarist" awards in various style categories from different organizations along the way. A limited number of Meet & Greet tickets available for $40.

City Winery Chicago also announces Katrina Woolverton opens for John Popper Oct. 6.

Opened in 2012, City Winery Chicago is a fully operational winery, restaurant with outdoor patio, concert hall and private event space located in the heart of the West Loop at 1200 W. Randolph, in the historic urban Fulton Market district. Once a refrigerated food distribution warehouse, the 1911 building has been transformed into a contemporary 33,000 square foot haven for those passionate about wine, music and culinary arts. The décor evokes the romance of being in wine country, from the exposed stainless steel fermenting tanks and French oak barrels, to the aroma of fermenting grapes. Chicago's only fully operation winery has produced dozens of in-house wines sourced from vineyards in California, Oregon, Washington, Argentina and Chile, including a Wine Enthusiast 90-point 2012 Bien Nacido Vineyard Reserve pinot noir. The globally inspired, locally sourced, wine-focused food menu is conceived for pairing and sharing.
