Director Morra Priess says, ""Merrily We Roll Along" has a poignant and emotional story about friendships and the importance of staying true to one's ideals. The show travels back in time over the course of twenty years to reveal important life events of three close-knit friends."
"Merrily We Roll Along" begins with Franklin Shepherd (Terrence Sherrill), a dejected, yet famous movie producer, looking back on his life. The ensemble, as his conscience, reflects on his choices and asks, "How did you get to be here?" The show then takes the audience back in time, highlighting the important events that answer the question. We see Franklin's initial dream of writing a smash hit musical with his two best friends Charley Kringas (Ken Priess) and Mary Flynn (Jessica Means) fall to the wayside as other relationships and opportunities present themselves. The show is a rare gem in the musical theatre world and includes Sondheim classics including "Now You Know", "Our Time," and the title song "Merrily We Roll Along."
The cast includes Terrence Sherrill (Mount Prospect), Ken Priess (Lake Zurich), Jessica Means (Schaumburg), Francesca Sherrill (Mount Prospect), Julie Koerner (Northbrook), Peter Rasey (Chicago), with an ensemble of Cristianna Formeller (Palatine), Josh Formeller (Palatine), Madeline Franklin (Palatine), Tyler Callahan (Tower Lake), Alma Lumabas (Buffalo Grove), Nathasha Laws (Buffalo Grove), Scott Skiple (Des Plaines), Rick Peter (Elk Grove Village), Kyle Downs (Long Grove), and Parker Sherrill (Mount Prospect). The orchestra includes Kenneth McMullen, Diane Hansen, Christian Moreno, Sean O'Donnell, Mike McCain, and Ian McGarrie. The production staff includes Morra Priess: Director (Lake Zurich), Kenneth McMullen: Music Director (Palatine).
