Village Players Theater will be closing two shows this weekend. "Lost In Yonkers" by Neil Simon will be closing on the Mainstage, while "Savage in Limbo" will be closing in the Studio. Both will have their final performances on February 21st, 2010.

"Lost in Yonkers", by Neil Simon, is on the Mainstage as part of Village Players Theater's New American Classics season. In it, two Young Brothers are forced to fend for themselves when their ne'er do well father leaves them with their tyrannical grandmother, who rules her home and candy store with an iron will. Along with their sweet but simple-minded aunt and mysterious gangster uncle, the boys learn about old wounds and new beginnings. Neil Simon's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning masterwork is a comical and poignant look at family ties.

Directed by Brian Rabinowitz, the cast includes Steven Camara, Paul Chakrin, Stephanie Ganacopolos, Katherine Glavin, Deanna Norman, Andrew Raia and Jake Walczyk. Designers include Annalee Johnson (props), John List (sound), Camden Peterson (lights) Annette Vargas (set) and Emma Weber(costumes). Lisa Tiess is the Assistant Director. Michelle Springer is the stage manager.

The last performances for "Lost In Yonkers" will be on Friday, February 19th and Saturday the 20th at 8pm and Sunday the 21st at 3pm. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors over 65.

Jon Patrick Shanley's "Savage in Limbo" is in the Studio space as part of the Women on the Cutting Edge Series for 2009-2010. Although Denise and Linda are old school friends, their issues are worlds apart. Denise is a loner who at the ripe old age of 32 hasn't yet lost her virginity, although she would rather lose it as soon as possible. Linda can never be alone, with a long line of boyfriends and the illegitimate children of these unions. A chance to change everything happens when Linda's current boyfriend, Tony, decides to dump Linda for "ugly chicks" who read books. Denise decides that this is an opportunity, and decides to go after Tony. Set in a bar where the bartender is content to keep the glasses full, not everyone can win at the end of this dramedy.

Directed by Jacque Lueken, the cast includes JorDan Blythe, Chris Conley, Pasquale Didiana, Johnny Minea and Lauren Sivak. Designers for the show include Drew David(lights), Annalee Johnson(set) and Emma Weber(costumes). Whitney Powell is the stage manager.

The last performances of "Savage in Limbo" will be on Thursday February 18th, Friday February 19th and Saturday February 20th at 7:30 and Sunday February 21st at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors over 65 and students with a valid I.D. Two for one tickets are available on Thursday and Sunday.

All performances will be found at the Village Players Performing Arts Center, 1010 Madison St., Oak Park. The theater is near the Harlem exit of I-290 and is also accessible by the CTA Green and Blue lines and by Metra on the Union Pacific West (UP-W) line . Plenty of parking is available on the street.
