The Loose Chicks invite guests to a compelling performance May 8, 2005 at 7:15 p.m. Loose Chicks, led by Jillian Erickson and Roberta Miles, is a collection of courageous women who share experiences that most women keep to themselves. The event, which will be held at Uncharted Books 2620 N Milwaukee Ave., features six exceptional writers and performers who allow themselves to be vulnerable as they share with uncommon honesty.
"These two women share some rather unsafe details from their lives without casting the audience as so many flies on the wall. The audience is their friend, with whom they have become close enough to share life's intimate stories." wrote
J. Scott Hall of Chicago Stage Review. "Loose Chicks is a name that has less to do with moral boundaries than with the boundaries between personal and private, between performing and sharing. DO NOT MISS the next chance to get to know the Loose Chicks."
Erickson explores the themes of identity, compassion and mental health with an intensity and humor that is uniquely her own. She is the co-producer/director of the long running BEAST WOMEN.
Miles's award-winning autobiographical monologues touch on growing up in Chicago in the 70's and her life's indiscretions and romantic regrets. She chronicles her quest for mental and physical health with brutally hilarious candor. She is a jazz singer, a poet, a writer, and a visual artist.
This week's featured performers: Mary Jo Bolduc, Dianne Carroll, Brenda Killianski and Erin Lane.
Uncharted Books, located at 2620 N. Milwaukee Ave., is a used bookstore, event space, and writer's haven in Chicago's Logan Square.
