How far would you go to achieve your dreams? La Costa Theatre Opens its newly renovated space with a dark comedic new twist on Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's cult classic Little Shop of Horrors

La Costa goes back to its Musical Roots! Don't miss one of the must see shows of the summer!

Little Shop of Horrors is the tragic love story of hapless florist shop worker, Seymour Krelborn, who becomes an overnight sensation thanks to his carnivorous plant "Audrey II". Success comes fast for the Skid Row florist until people around him start to disappear, creating a struggle between fame and the love of his life, bubbly co-worker Audrey. La Costa's production also uniquely portrays the hardship and real truth behind Skid row's low income inhabitants during the period, while also serving up some of the best comedic timing in the industry.

The show, directed by Dan Sanders-Joyce, aims to tell this story honestly. "I really want to concentrate on telling the story of desperation, that is Little Shop and showing how that desperation can lead one to unthinkable actions. Once the truth is there, then comes that dark comedy." Musical direction by Jeff Award winning musical director Ryan Brewster is sure to wow you again with his tight harmonies, while showcasing the music of the 60's and heightening the comic timing. With colorfully eye-popping vintage costumes being designed by CS magazine style editor Graham Kostic, and the dark but alluring essence of the scenery and lighting, this production of Little Shop is a fresh revival of this usually campy classic.

"Little Shop of Horrors" will close on Sunday, July 11th, 2010 at La Costa Theatre, 3931 N. Elston.  Tickets are $25. As always, industry, students and residents of the Old Irving/Independence Park area will receive a $10 discount and there are Group rates available. Tickets can be purchased at the door, through the La Costa website, or by calling TicketWeb at 866-468-3401.
