The Kiss Kiss Cabaret brings back the Roaring Twenties with its all-new 1920's-themed "Speakeasy!", opening Friday, July 11 through Friday, August 29, 11 p.m., at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. "Speakeasy!" features new opening and closing numbers, jazz-age-themed solos, anti-prohibition-styled drink specials and a musical nod to the Marx Brothers performed by the Claptrap Family Orchestra, plus the return of the popular intermission contests. This show will end the three and a half year open run of The Kiss Kiss Cabaret at the Greenhouse Theater Center, and usher the company into the new Uptown Underground in Fall 2014. Tickets to the Kiss Kiss Cabaret are $15 in advance or $20 and are available at 773-404 7336 or www.KissKissCabaret.com.
"The Speakeasy theme pays homage to our past and our future," says co-founder and co-producer Jenn A Kincaid. "A rip-roaring party in the style and flair of the 1920s that celebrates the golden age of burlesque - I couldn't think of grander send off from the Greenhouse Theater Center or a better house warming party for the Uptown Underground. We will definitely go out with a bang and come in with a flourish!"
The Kiss Kiss Cabaret producers are currently building the Uptown Underground - a 7,000 square foot retro-themed adult entertainment venue at 4707 N. Broadway slated to open Fall 2014. Located below street level, the Uptown Underground hosts a 150-seat main stage and a full service bar. The Uptown Underground will be the new home of The Kiss Kiss Cabaret as well as other area burlesque companies and retro entertainment including cabaret, music, stand-up and vaudeville variety in an immersive jazz-age themed theater space.
