Broadway In Chicago and Emerald City Theatre are delighted to announce that the Chicago premiere of Ken Ludwig'S 'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS will play Broadway In Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) for an engagement that runs November 12 through December 31, 2017.
Directed by Emerald City Theatre Artistic Director Jacqueline Stone, Ken Ludwig'S 'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is a fantastic, slapstick holiday affair for all ages. When Santa Claus' "Naughty or Nice" list goes missing, it's up to a pair of dancing mice, a spunky girl, and an Elf-B-I agent to solve the mystery before Santa boards his sleigh.
Playwright Ken Ludwig's work has been seen on Broadway and across London's West End with his plays and musicals performed in more than 30 countries in over 20 languages. His first play on Broadway, Lend Me A Tenor, which the Washington Post called "one of the classic comedies of the 20th century," won two Tony Awards and was nominated for seven. He has also won two Laurence Olivier Awards, the Charles MacArthur Award, two Helen Hayes Awards, the Edgar Award for Best Mystery from The Mystery Writers of America, the SETC Distinguished Career Award, and the Edwin Forrest Award for Services to the American Theatre.
Jacqueline Stone is proud to serve as ECT's Artistic Director, after serving as Education Director for ten years. She has directed multiple productions, most recently Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, The Snowy Day & Other Stories by Ezra Jack Keats, and Mother Goose's Garden. In addition to her role at ECT, Stone currently serves as Artistic Director for TUTA Theatre Chicago, where she is co-founder and has acted or directed in over 16 productions. At TUTA, she most recently directed the mid-west premiere of The Edge of Our Bodies by Adam Rapp. For the past 20 years she has acted, directed, and taught across the United States including Chicago Dramatists, The Second City, and Columbia College Chicago.
Ken Ludwig'S 'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
