Celebrating 35 years of bringing award-winning musical theater to Chicagoland, the Marriott Theatre will open its 2009 Season with the mega-hit musical JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's most playful, joyous and feel-good musical, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, is a "colorful" retelling of the Biblical life of Joseph and his amazing abilities. The story will take you on a fantastic journey of song and dance; from country and calypso, to musical theater and doo wop! Director Marc Robin says, "I love the celebration of the story. I connect with the amazing energy that is present in the heart of this piece". An audience favorite and worldwide phenomenon for more than forty years, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT will be presented in brilliant "Technicolor" on the Marriott stage. The irresistible score includes Broadway favorites Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door, and Go, Go, Go Joseph.

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT originally premiered as a 30-minute cantata in 1968 before being reshaped and professionally staged as a musical in 1972. It opened on Broadway, at the Royale Theatre, in 1982, receiving eight Tony Award nominations! In 1993, the National Tour of JOSEPH starring Donny Osmond, became one of the most successful musicals in Chicago history, with multiple runs at the Chicago Theatre. JOSEPH first bowed at the Marriott Theatre in 1985, becoming its best selling show to date. Ten seasons ago JOSEPH again broke records here and became the first musical presented at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre in a joint production with Marriott. Subscribers again chose JOSEPH for this 35th Anniversary as the show they most wanted to see again.
