The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF), dedicated to celebrating, nurturing and expanding the Great American Songbook, and the American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) announce the 16 songwriters chosen to participate in the 2012 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project. The talented songwriters include the composer of a hit off-Broadway musical, the lead for an all-girl alternative country group, a vet of film scoring, and a one-time American Idol contestant.

The 2012 JMF Songwriters Project participants include Matilde Bernabei, Jeff Bienstock, Kayley Bishop, Cassie Boettcher, Andrea Daly, John Gurney, Caleb Hawley, Patrick Lundquist, Rebekah Greer Melocik, Gregory Nabours, Sarah Nisch, Jennifer Sanchez, Peter Seibert, Shaina Taub, Becky Warren and Jacob Yandura.

The 2012 program will be led by master teachers Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family, BIG FISH), Craig Carnelia (SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS), and three-time Grammy winner Lari White (GREEN-EYED SOUL) and will culminate in two special performance events including a celebration concert featuring Broadway star Ann Hampton Callaway.
