Chicago Reader's Best Standup of 2013 Jamie Campbell presides over his returning hit, TIME MACHINE: Comedy Throughout History the first Wednesday of every month at 10pm at Gorilla Tango Bucktown (1919 N. Milwaukee). This month, the Time Machine is set for 986 CE; join Jamie and his tried and true Chicago crew tonight, October 2, 2013 at 10 pm for a wild ride with minimal bathing required (so as to blend in with the locals). Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.gorillatango.com or by calling 773-598-4549.
TIME MACHINE: Comedy Throughout History is a variety show like no other: each month, a different ensemble of Chicago's top comedic talent is given the task of creating an original act that takes place during a specific period in history. The audience is then magically (read: theatrically) transported to that era for a one-of-a-kind, historically accurate performance that will leave you simultaneously nostalgic and eternally grateful for things like the internet. On October 2, the Time Machine is set to travel to the Middle Ages: the year 986 CE, to be precise. Mead wine, wenches, and an average level of filth you can only imagine by watching extensive amounts of Game of Thrones through a dirty pair of glasses prevailed. Come vaguely remember things from your European history class such as the Nordic seige of London, tyrant Eric the Red colonizing Greenland, and the title of Holy Roman Emperor, which the Pope was usually involved in somehow.
"Time Machine..." will feature performers hand-picked from Chicago's world famous comedy scene. This month's roster includes Matt Riggs (Chicago Underground Comedy), Tyler Jackson (Limestone Comedy Festival), Will Meinen (Talk Hard), Cody Melcher (Out of Bounds Comedy Festival), Rebecca O'Neal (Lincoln Lodge), Alan Metoskie (ComedySportz), and Jamie Campbell.
ABOUT JAMIE CAMPBELL: A "bombastic genius" (according to Chicago Underground Comedy), Jamie Campbell is a Chicago-based actor, stand-up comedian, improviser, and playwright. He is one of the stars of the upcoming feature-film Dirtbags and the host of the live, weekly late-night talk show Talk Hard.
