American Players Theatre (APT) announces its 2013 Season, which runs tonight, June 8 to October 20, 2013, and includes the first indoor Shakespeare production of the company's history: an intimate adaptation of Antony and Cleopatra by heralded off-Broadway actor and playwright James DeVita and director Kate Buckley, presented in the 200-seat Touchstone Theatre. DeVita, one of APT's Core Company members, recently completed a critically acclaimed run of his solo show In Acting Shakespeare at the Pearl Theater in New York.

In addition to Antony and Cleopatra, APT's flagship 1148-seat outdoor amphitheater Up the Hill will feature Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Hamlet, as well as W. Somerset Maugham's comedy Too Many Husbands, Tom Stoppard's Hamlet accompaniment Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, and Arthur Miller's great American classic All My Sons. Additional indoor Touchstone productions are Brian Friel's gripping Molly Sweeney and a reprisal of James DeVita's Dickens In America, featuring APT Core Company Member James Ridge.

Located on 110 acres of hilly woods and meadows above the Wisconsin River in Spring Green, Wisconsin, American Players Theatre was founded in 1979 and continues to be one of the most popular outdoor classical theaters in the nation. Tickets are currently available for returning patrons and go on sale to the general public Monday, April 15. Single tickets for APT's 2013 Season range from $42-$68, with special 4-Pack ticket packages starting at just $92 for four tickets to select shows Up the Hill. Ticket and lodging packages are also available at discounted rates. For more information on ticket prices, schedules, plays and casting, call the APT Box Office at 608-588-2361 or visit www.americanplayers.org.

American Players Theatre's 2013 Season:

Molly Sweeney - June 8 to September 21, 2013 (Touchstone Theatre)

By Brian Friel - Directed by Kenneth Albers

Opening night: June 15 at 3 p.m.

Thrilling Irish playwright Brian Friel has created a story moving and unforgettable; just the kind of magnified, cathartic experience that makes the Touchstone Theatre so vital. Molly is happy, content. And blind. And now, she has achance to see. As everyone in her life celebrates what's about to be gained, little thought is saved for what might be lost.

The Two Gentlemen of Verona - June 8 to October 6, 2013 (Up the Hill)

By William Shakespeare - Directed by Tim Ocel

Opening night: June 15 at 8 p.m.

The perfect summer evening Shakespeare. Valentine and Proteus seek travel, adventure and, yes, love too. But nothing complicates friendship like a little romantic competition, as the boys attempt to thrive as men. Fortunately, youthful indiscretion and comedy go hand-in-hand.

Too Many Husbands (AKA Home and Beauty) - June 14 to September 14, 2013 (Up the Hill)

By W. Somerset Maugham - Directed by David Frank

Opening night: June 22 at 8 p.m.

Prim English chivalry gets bushwhacked by fate in this hilarious comedy. In the wake of WWI lovely Kate remarries, believing her husband dead-only to find him unexpectedly alive. Featuring characters who waltz with and around propriety, this is one of those pieces that fits APT's players like an urbane second skin.

Dickens In America - June 26 to October 19, 2013 (Touchstone Theatre)

By James DeVita - Directed by C. Michael Wright ? Featuring James Ridge

Opening night: June 29 at 3 p.m.

A spellbinding combination of literature, history and fiction. This is Mr. Dickens' farewell to America, and tonight he slips into characters of his own creation. Between readings, he returns to himself, his insights ringing with hope. Charming, funny, unforgettable.

Hamlet - June 21 to October 4, 2013 (Up the Hill)

By William Shakespeare - Directed by John Langs

Opening night: June 29 at 8 p.m.

One of the greatest plays in the English language, Hamlet revels in its contradictions. It's both political thriller and ghost story. A surprising comedy and a violent tragedy. A love story that costumes its characters in poetry, madness and revenge.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - August 2 to October 5, 2013 (Up the Hill)

By Tom Stoppard - Directed by James Bohnen

Opening night: August 10 at 8 p.m.

Hamlet's two smallest players make the big time. But in this play - their play - they take center stage as they sort through the rules of existence, friendship and free will. Endearing, savage and very, very funny. All The Players from APT's Hamlet reprise their roles in this production!

Antony and Cleopatra - August 11 to October 20, 2013 (Touchstone Theatre)

By William Shakespeare - Directed by Kate Buckley - Adapted by Kate Buckley & James DeVita

Opening night: August 18 at 8 p.m.

Antony and Cleopatra is a love story with the power to shatter nations. This seven-character adaptation by heralded off-Broadway actor and playwright James DeVita and director Kate Buckley distills and transcends, offering a chance for audiences to sit up close to Shakespeare's hottest couple in APT's intimate Touchstone Theatre.

All My Sons - August 9 to September 28, 2013 (Up the Hill)

By Arthur Miller - Directed by William Brown

Opening night: August 17 at 8 p.m.

In the wake of WWII, the ghosts of a scandal that once rocked the Keller family and their tight-knit community still linger on the borders of every conversation. At once heart-wrenching and hopeful, All My Sons is an engrossing American classic.
