Following its critically acclaimed success Hot 'N' Throbbing, Interrobang Theatre Project continues its third season with SPEAKING IN TONGUES by Australian playwright Andrew Bovell, directed by Artistic Director Jeffry Stanton, playing February 21 - March 24, 2013 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. The production features Meg Elliott, Joe Flynn, Jenny Lamb and Neal Starbird. Tickets for SPEAKING IN TONGUES are available at www.theaterwit.org/boxoffice. The press opening is Saturday, February 23 at 8 pm.

SPEAKING IN TONGUES is a masterfully written polyphony about the mistakes we make, the emotional scars we inflict on those we pretend to love and the consequences of actions with which we're left to grapple. Four actors portray nine characters caught in a destructive web of coincidence, betrayal, desire and obsession. Skeletons are exhumed, lonely marriages are unveiled, a wife goes missing, contracts are broken by intimates and tenuous bonds are formed between strangers. The haunting SPEAKING IN TONGUES will have you piecing together exactly what happened long after you leave the theatre.

Andrew Bovell (Playwright) was awarded the AWGIE award for Best Stage Play in 1997 for SPEAKING IN TONGUES. In 2001, Bovell adapted the play for screen as Lantana, which won him the AFI Award for Best Adapted Screenplay (2001) and the London Critics' Circle Film Award for Best Screenplay (2003). His other playwriting credits include When the Rain Stops Falling, After Dinner, Holy Day, Scenes from a Separation and Who's Afraid of the Working Class?. His screenwriting credits include the acclaimed film Strictly Ballroom, which he co-wrote with Baz Luhrmann.

SPEAKING IN TONGUES has toured the world to great acclaim since it was first produced at Sydney's Griffin Theatre Company in 1996. It made its U.S. premiere in 2001 at the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York, where it was hailed as "Clever, Provocative and Resonant!" by The New York Times, "Evocative and Hypnotic!" by USA Today and, "A play of shimmering, iridescent beauty," by the Financial Times.

The production team for SPEAKING IN TONGUES includes: Mike Mroch (Scenic Designer), Noël Huntzinger (Costume Designer), Claire Chrzan (Lighting Designer), Christopher Kriz (Sound Designer), Tiffany Lawson (Choreographer) Adam Gorsky (Technical Director) and Shawn Galligan (Production Stage Manager).
