The International Voices Project (IVP) Presents THE SULTAN'S DILEMMA by Tawfiq Al-Hakim, directed by Hassan Amejal and Patrizia Acerra, adapted in English by Adam Webster and adapted in Arabic by Hassan Amejal, for three performances only, Saturday, April 27 at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 28 at 3 p.m. and Monday, April 29 at 7 p.m.
When a Mamluk slave ascends the throne without being emancipated, he must be sold and earn his freedom from his new master. Should he follow the law and risk losing the throne or take back his throne through force? Tawfiq Al-Hakim's literary classic explores the nature of power and freedom.
Performed entirely in Arabic with English subtitles by an international cast, this adaptation will be a North American premiere.
