Bricklayers Team With French
Company Collectif Masque To Produce
Intergalactic Twelfth Night!

The Bricklayers announce an exciting collaboration with French theatre company Collectif Masque with a new outer space production of Shakespeare's Tweflth Night, directed by Mariana Araoz and featuring the six actors of the Bricklayers ensemble. The production, set in the year 2103, will play at the Athenaeum Theatre Studio 2 from September 12-October 12, 2008. Touring dates in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota will be announced shortly.

Araoz is making her American debut with Twelfth Night. She is bringing with her Christophe Patty, co-founder of Collectif Masque, to coach the troupe in mask and clown, which he teaches at the National Conservatory of Drama in Paris. Also accomplished mask-maker Etienne Champion will create six original masks for the production. Ms. Araoz's collaborator from Sweden, Marta Cicionesi, designs the sets.

Of the aesthetic of the production, Araoz says "After 100 years of war on Earth, humans have forgotten how to love one another and are walking around in a fog of uncertainty and suspicion. Then Viola, who comes from a peaceful planet and has never heard of war, crashes into Earth, bringing with her a light of renewal and beauty, changing everyone in her own journey into love."

Twelfth Night features Bricklayers Meredith Barry, Kyle Cadotte, Patrick Goulding, Tabitha Noble, Matt Trucano, and Zach Zube. Sets by Marta Cicionesi. Lights by Ted Koshiol. Costumes by Bricklayer Ruibo Qian. Bricklayer djAppel provides soundscape and spins live at every performance.  Previews begin September 12 with an opening night of September 14 at 4:00PM.  All performances are at Athenaeum Theatre, Studio 2 at 2936 N. Southport Ave.  Shows are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8:00PM and Sundays at 4:00PM.  Tickets are $20 for all performances.  Through October 12.  Tickets are available through the Athenaeum Box Office (773/935-6860) or from Ticketmaster www.ticketmaster.com
