Raven Theatre's holiday family treat - a dramatization with music of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's only Sherlock Holmes mystery set around the holidays - will return for a fourth year with some new faces on and off stage joining Raven veterans. Michael Menendian, co-Artistic Director of the theater and co-author (with John Weagly) of the script, today announced the cast and crew for this fully staged production.
Leading this year's cast as the famous detective will be Graham Emmons, who played the timid and bumbling Shawn Keogh in last season's Jeff-award-winning The Playboy of the Western World at Raven. His befuddled friend, Dr. Watson, will be played by a newcomer to Raven, Damian Conrad (Griffin Theatre's Letters Home and the NBC TV series Crisis). Also in the cast are Matt Bartholomew, Conor Clark, Lane Flores, Leah Frires, Rudy Galvan, Sarah Hayes, Sophia Menendian, and Symphony Sanders.
Menendian will again direct the script he adapted with John Weagly from Conan Doyle's The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle. Christopher Logan, who's won raves as a song and dance man for his work in Theo Ubique's A Cole Porter Songbook and A Kurt Weill Cabaret, joins the team as music director and choreographer. Though not a musical, the show will include some new vocal numbers and dances added for this year's version. Sets will be designed by Geno Franco and costumes will again be created by Alaina Moore. Justin Castellano will serve as lighting designer and Conor Clark as technical director.
In 2013, Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Goose was a runaway holiday hit for Raven, selling out a majority of its 10 performances. To meet demand, Raven has expanded its performance schedule for 2014, adding several matinees and performances on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day and the first weekend of the New Year.
Tickets are $20.00 or $15.00 for students, seniors, active military and Raven subscribers. Tickets are on sale now at www.raventheatre.com or by calling 773-338-2177.
Raven Theatre is located at 6157 N. Clark St., Chicago. There are a limited number of free parking spaces available in the parking lot adjacent to the theatre, and free on-street parking is available nearby.
