On December 14, the Goodman welcomes Chicago Blackhawks Ambassador and Hall-of-Famer Denis Savard to the stage for a one-night-only cameo appearance in A Christmas Carol-the 39th annual production of Chicago's favorite holiday tradition, directed by Henry Wishcamper, starring Larry Yando as Ebenezer Scrooge. Savard will don costumes created especially for him and appear in select scenes, take a bow and sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" at curtain call.

"We warmly welcome hockey's legendary Denis Savard to our stage, and look forward to continuing the fun on the ice."

Savard played 12 seasons of his 17-year National Hockey League career with the Blackhawks and currently ranks fourth in team history in goals (377) and second in assists (719). Chicago's first-round pick (third overall) in the 1980 NHL Draft, Savard became the second player in team history to record 100-plus points in a season (119) in 1981-82; he compiled three 100-point seasons as a Blackhawk. The seven-time All-Star holds the franchise single-season assist record with 87 (1981-82 and 1987-88), as well as the team's single-season points record (131 in 1987-88). Savard, a Pointe Gatineau, Quebec, native, also spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Lighting and three seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, where he won the Stanley Cup in 1993. Savard was named a Blackhawks Ambassador on Nov. 13, 2008. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000 and had his jersey retired by the Blackhawks in 1998.
Savard's fellow Blackhawks Hall-of-Famer, Bobby Hull, made his "Goodman Theatre debut" in a 2010 cameo appearance. Other Chicago sports notables to appear in A Christmas Carol include Scottie Pippen, Brian Urlacher and Robin Ventura.
