Thanksgiving is more than just being thankful one day of the year, eating to prepare for Black Friday shopping or an excuse to eat a second piece of pie. From full turkey dinners to go, Thanksgiving tacos and fall beer for family gatherings, we rounded up the top promotions, events and deals available in Chicago and around the country in celebration of Thanksgiving.

Trot Your Turkey Out of the City

Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park is offering their popular Thanksgiving at Home Dinner. They do the cooking and you serve and enjoy! A full dinner for eight starts at $275 (plus tax) and includes all the traditional favorites like American Bronze Turkey, Chef's Signature Sausage and Apricot Stuffing, Parmesan and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Maple Bourbon Sweet Potatoes with Roasted Cinnamon, Caramelized Brussel Sprouts with Chili Vinaigrette, Green Beans and Charred Mushrooms, Orange-Scented Cranberry Preserves, Brioche Dinner Rolls, and guest's choice of Old Fashioned Apple Pie, Traditional Pumpkin Pie or Southern Pecan Pie. Additional items are available for another charge, including Roasted Turkey, Pre-Carved Turkey, Sides and more pie. A Very Pilsen Thanksgiving

Featuring locally made tortilla's from the Pilsen Neighborhood, Staytion at Renaissance Chicago Downtown is creating Thanksgiving inspired tacos with turkey and cranberry foam, on Tuesday November 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. These delicious, locally-made El Milagro Tortilla shells are stuffed with cider-brined turkey breast, cilantro-lime mascarpone spread, pickled vegetables and garnished with a cranberry foam and pair perfectly with a specialty Pilsen Mescal cocktail. Gobble, gobble, indeed!

For the Beer-loving Family

Don't be the guest who shows up to Thanksgiving with nothing in arms. It's better to show up with beer! Starting at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, Nevin's Brewing Company,12337 South Route 59, Plainfield, suburban brewery and eatery, offers guests a special deal for half off growler fills, $3 Nevin's Drafts, half off select appetizers and live entertainment in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday. The perfect place to catch up with family or relax for the long weekend, Nevin's Brewing Company brings guests together with a lively and modern environment to socialize over a pint and delicious American-style food options.

Live Music and Great Bites for The Thankful Irish

In celebration of Black Wednesday before closing on Thanksgiving Day, Muldoon's Irish Pub, 133 W. Front Street, Wheaton, is offering live music for all to unwind! House band Devonport Ed will perform to bring spirits up for the long weekend. The bar will serve $10 Nevin's Hook and Hatchet Pitchers, $4 Guinness, $3 Guinness Blonde and $5 Sangria. Whether Irish by birth or inclination, family and friends can gather in the perfectly festive spot to relax and socialize together.

Just a short drive away in Willowbrook, The Kerry Piper is offering fun Wednesday specials including $3 Revel Stoke flavored whiskey shots and $4 Black&Blanks in addition to $4 Lagunitas and Revolution drafts. The blues rock group Stevie Craig Band will perform starting at 8:00 p.m. Their 2nd Annual Darien Bar Crawl benefitting the Cristopher Lyons Memorial Fund is also making a stop by the pub. The famed All Chocolate Kitchen, is excited to bring back its delicious fall treats for the season. Guinness World Record-holding chocolate artist Chef Alain Roby, owner of All Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva, is known for creating stunning desserts, and with the fall season in full swing, he is making a variety of treats such as: delicious chocolate covered apples and blown sugar pumpkins. These beautiful, artistic creations are the perfect center piece treats for family Thanksgiving.

An Intelligent Supper

Hotel EMC2, 228 East Ontario Street, is home to one of Chicago's most unique dining destinations, the Albert. The 120-seat contemporary restaurant, which is a nod to the extraordinary scientist of the same name, is led by 30-year-old Executive Chef Brandon Brumback and just unveiled their special prix fixe menus for both Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. The 3-course family-style menus are both available for $75 per person, with an additional beverage pairing available for $50 per person. The style Thanksgiving Supper menu features delicious holiday staples like Deviled Eggs, Sweet Potatoes, made with maple syrup and marshmallows, and Poultry Ballotine, topped with cranberry, and desserts like Pumpkin Tart, with Peptias Nougatine & Vanilla Chantilly, and Stout Pecan Tart, made with Salted Caramel and Cookies & Crème Ice Cream.

Give Your Family A Laugh

To celebrate groups getting together for the holidays, the large cast of Tony n' Tina's Wedding, an 80's themed Italian Wedding interactive comedy, comically portraying two families coming together, is offering Buy One Get One half off ticket sales to a special performance 4 p.m. Saturday, November 25. Dessert options for takeout include Pecan Pie ($25), Sweet Potato Pie ($25), Red Velvet Cake with Black Walnut Icing ($45), Yellow Cake with Chocolate Icing ($45) and Prebaked Pans of Cinnamon Rolls ($30). Minnesota Nice Family Dinner

The Midwest offers a cozy retreat for travelers returning to their childhood homes. Looking to take the stress out of the short holiday weekend?
