To celebrate their 16th year and the drunken glory that is Pride Month, GayCo Productions (www.gayco.com) opens their all-new sketch comedy revue SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE on June 15 at Stage 773 (1225 W. Belmont Ave.)
Dancing muscle studs. Rowdy dykes on bikes. Puking twinks. Protestors with poor spelling skills. Aldermen and waving stiffly from Acuras, desperate for our gay love. There’s no parade like a gay pride parade.
Marching proudly through all facets of modern gay life, SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE features overmedicated lesbians, a bitchy Al Capone, the twisted fantasies of anti-gay marriage activists, and the inescapable horror of trying to eat out in Andersonville. Featuring original songs and sketches the classic GayCo snark, SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE explores the joys, the frustrations and the hangovers of being homosexual.
SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE previews June 1 and 2 at 8pm, and opens June 15 at 8pm, running Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm until July 7. Regular tickets are $20. Preview tickets are $12.
SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE is directed by Sabrina Harper, who currently directs for Second City’s Touring Company. It is written and performed by Judy Fabjance, Clay Goodpasture, John Loos, Kelly Beeman, Kathy Betts and Jake Carr. Music direction is by Amanda Murphy and choreography is by Carisa Barreca.
GayCo Productions was formed out of the famed Second City in 1996. For 16 years, it has produced thought-provoking and irreverent sketch comedy revues where gay is always the given and never the punchline.
