Mary-Arrchie is not taking a vacation this summer. The group finishes its 26th Season with a new partnership with Illinois State University when it presents an energetic staging of Electra in a new adaptation by Sonja Moser in July. And Mary-Arrchie will be performing a special two-week extension of Jeff Nominated Superior Donuts at Metropolis Arts Center in Arlington Heights. Plus, the Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Theatre Festival celebrates it's 24th year this August.

Then we launch right into our 27th season with Sam Shepard's surreal Geography of a Horse Dreamer in September, followed by a Mary-Arrchie re-imagining of The Glass Menagerie in November. Then we kick off 2013 with Austin Pendleton's riveting Uncle Bob in February 2013 and finish up with a relentless experimental staging of The Brig by Kenneth H. Brown in April and the Silver Anniversary of Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Theatre Festival in August 2013.

Introducing Mary-Arrchie's 27th Season

Geography of a Horse Dreamer by Sam Shepard
Directed by Carlo Lorenzo Garcia
Featuring Gavin Robinson, Rudy Galvan, and an ensemble cast
September 20th thru October 28th 2012

Geography of a Horse Dreamer is a twisted and menacing tale of abduction & exploitation. It weaves the story of Cody, a cowboy with the ability to predict horse race winners in his dreams, who is kidnapped by gangsters and exploited for their monetary gain. When his gift begins to fade, his very life hangs in the balance.

The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams
with an original score by Daniel Knox
Directed by Richard Cotovsky & Hans Fleischmann
Featuring Maggie Cain, Joanne Dubach, Walter Briggs, & Hans Fleischmann
December 9th 2012 thru January 20th, 2013

A homeless man living on the streets of St. Louis, post-WWII, navigates through the gritty back alleys of his imagination to the events that led to his ultimate demise. LA-based Jeff Award winning ensemble member Hans Fleischmann returns to Mary-Arrchie for this re-imagining of Tennessee Williams' classic memory play. Chicago musician Daniel Knox composes an original score. Daniel has performed with David Lynch, Jarvis Cocker, and at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center with Rufus Wainwright.

Uncle Bob by Austin Pendleton
Directed by Cody Estle
Featuring Richard Cotovsky & Rudy Galvan
February 14th through March 24th 2013

Uncle Bob lives in New York as an uproariously articulate hermit, separated from the wife to whom he is devoted and who is devoted to him. He is visited by his nephew, Josh, who is without a job, without a completed college education, and without any sense of a future, all of which he faces with a wit and nervy desperation that finds its only match in his Uncle Bob. A loving and funny, abrasive and profane battle ensues.

The Brig by Kenneth H. Brown
Directed by Jennifer Markowitz
Featuring an Ensemble cast
April 18th through May 26th 2013

The Brig was first staged in 1963 by The Living Theatre in New York. The Brig is a fundamentally important experimental piece based on Brown's experience of 30 hellacious days in a military prison for Marines. This poignant staging will be unlike anything you've ever seen, it's a brutal, physically engaging and relentless piece of theater that will resonate long after you leave the theatre.

Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Theatre Festival XXV
August 16th through August 18th 2013
The legendary festival celebrates its Silver Anniversary, 25 years of Groucho Marxism at its finest.

All performances will take place at Angel Island, located at 735 W. Sheridan Rd. For more information and for tickets, visit: www.maryarrchie.com
