Fox Valley Rep's BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO Opens 4/7

 Fox Valley Repertory continues its 2nd season reliving the summer of 1960 set to Neil Sedaka's great hits with the musical Breaking Up is Hard to Do. Directed by Fox Valley Rep Veteran and Multi-JEFF Award-winning Choreographer and Director Kevin Bellie, performances will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; box office 630-584-6342).

Breaking Up is Hard to Do will preview Thursday, March 29 through Friday, April 6, 2012. The show will open Saturday evening, April 7, 2012 and continue through Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Tickets are priced at $32 on Fridays (and limited Thursday performances), and at $42 on Saturdays and Sundays. Dinner show packages are available from $52. Group discounts, overnight rates, and discounted subscription packages are also available.

"Breaking Up is Hard to Do offers fun nostalgia to our patrons, as we call can remember a time when we were young and in love," says Artistic Director John Gawlik. "Combine Dirty Dancing with "Where the Boys Are", and you get a musical full of teenage infatuations, excitement, innocence, first kisses, first fights - which can all be used to describe this fun production." 

It's the summer of 1960 - a great time to be young and in love!  But after poor Marge gets dumped at the altar, she decides to go on her honeymoon to Esther's Paradise Resort in the Catskills Mountains with best friend Lois in search of good times during.  A cruisin' adventure of colorful characters, mistaken identity, and romance!  Relive the excitement of your first kiss while tappin' your toes along to 18 of rock-n-roll legend Neil Sedaka's chart-toppin' songs, including "Where the Boys Are," "Sweet Sixteen," "Love Will Keep Us Together," "Calendar Girl," and of course the title song, "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do."  

The cast of Breaking up is Hard to Do features (in alphabetical order): Michael Brown,Roselle native Stephanie Herman, Christina Myers, Creg Sclavi, Heather Townsend and FrEd Zimmerman of Downers Grove. 

JEFF award-winning Director and Choreographer Kevin Bellie returns to Fox Valley Repertory as director after directing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling BeeThe Taffetas, Drood and Roasting Chestnuts 2006: Gina Wants You!. He is the artistic director of Circle Theatre in Forest Park and Co-Director of Circle Theatre's Emerging Young Artists Program. Kevin's direction and choreography credits at Circle include Sweet Smell of Success(JEFF Recommended), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (JEFF Nominated), Hello Again (JEFF Recommended), Nine (JEFF Citation Recipient), Triumph of Love (JEFF Citation Nominee),The Life (JEFF Citation Recipient), Grand Hotel (JEFF Citation Recipient) and Rags (JEFF Recommended). Kevin has also worked with Pegasus Players, Porchlight, Serendipity, and serves as an Educator at St. Ignatius College Prep High School in Chicago.

Breaking Up is Hard to Do runs Thursday, March 29, 2012 through Sunday, May 20, 2012. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m. Thursday performances are available on March 29 and April 5 at 8pm; and April 12 & 26 and May 17 at 2pm. The show is rated PG.
