Fox Valley Repertory takes an upbeat trip down memory lane this summer as they continue their 2014 theater series celebrating the lives and music of the famed Andrews Sisters in Sisters of Swing. This nostalgic musical, written by Beth Gilleland and Bob Beverage, is directed by Fox Valley Rep Artistic Director and Wheaton native John Gawlik with music direction by Jeffrey Poindexter and choreography by Christie Kerr of Lombard. Performances will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage June 5 - July 27, 2014 (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; box office 630-584-6342).

LaVerne, Maxene and Patty are The Andrews Sisters -- one of the best-selling female vocal groups of all time, selling over 90 million records with more Top Ten Hits than the Beatles or Elvis. Join them on their journey from the early days on the road, through their rise as recording stars, to entertaining American GI's overseas, and finally dissembling over differences. With over 20 hit songs like "Bei Mir Bist Du Schon," "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," this unique perspective reveals how the events of their lives shaped who they became to the rest of the world.

"Sisters of Swing is more than just a revue of their memorable music of the 1930s and 40s," says Director John Gawlik. "While this production certainly tells the story of their rise and fall of their successes, it also reveals just how important their music was to us all, and how it truly changed America for the better. It will be hard for our audience members to leave our theater without a smile on their face and their favorite Andrews Sisters song stuck in their heart."

The cast of Sisters of Swing features (in alphabetical order): Kellie Cundiff, David Hathway, Carol Rose (previously in Fox Valley Rep's 2013 summer hit Why Do Fools Fall in Love) and St. Charles native Brittany Stock.

Sisters of Swing runs Thursday, June 5, 2014 through Sunday, July 27, 2014. Press Opening is Saturday, June 14, 2014 @ 8pm. Show times are: Fridays & Saturdays @ 8pm, and Sundays @ 2pm. Special Thursday performances are June 5 & 12 @ 8pm, and June 19 & 26 and July 10 & 17 @ 2pm. The show is rated PG.

This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and is sponsored in part by Daily Herald and MCC Technology.

The rest of Fox Valley Repertory's 2014 Theater Series includes Neil Simon's heart-warming memoir, Brighton Beach Memoirs (August 28 - October 19, 2014), and the holiday music revue, Christmas on Broadway (November 13 - December 28, 2014). Season subscriptions start at $60 for three shows (discounted dinner-show subscriptions also available) and are currently available by calling the Box Office at 630-584-6342.
