Faustus, The Musical, written by Michael Mott and Justin Silvestri, makes its Chicago debut, in concert, on Monday, April 16. An entanglement of various musical styles, this epic musical explores the great duality of human motivation; self-love and self-sacrifice.
Composer/lyricist Michael Mott will host the Midwest premiere of Faustus at Davenport’s Piano Bar & Cabaret on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 8 PM. Singers include Broadway’s Gary Lindemann (Phantom of the Opera), Julie Barnes (Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Michael VanGemert, Erin VanGemert and Mathew Schwartz. Influenced by Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus and Goethe's Faust, Faustus, The Musical features music and lyrics by Michael Mott, book by Justin Silvestri, piano arrangements by Jeff Theiss, orchestrations by Kim Scharnberg and direction by Jeff Whiting.
In January 2012, Faustus won Audience's Favorite Musical and Best Actor (Bronson Norris Murphy for his portrayal of Dr. Faustus) at The Manhattan Theatre Mission's Festival of New Musicals in New York City.
