Exit 63 Theatre is excited to announce the lineup for their third season, titled "Possessed". The 2020 season will feature three productions, with two Chicago premieres and one U.S. premiere.
"Our third season we are looking to explore the concept of 'possession' how it manifests - both the supernatural and the everyday."
The season will begin with the Chicago premiere of Steve Yockey's queer horror anthology play Reykjavík, directed by Connor Baty with choreography by Derek Van Barham, followed by the U.S. premiere of the West End sci-fi drama, Stef Smith's Girl in the Machine, directed by Nora Lise Ulrey. Ending the season will be the Chicago premiere of Cory Finley's The Feast, a horror-comedy directed by Nelson Rodriguez.
Exit 63 Theatre's 2020 Season: Possessed:
January 23 - February 9, 2020
James is in Reykjavík for the Northern Lights, but they're not here. Instead he ventures into the 24-hour dark of the Icelandic winter and finds himself entangled with dangerous strangers, suspicious lovers, malevolent birds and the mysterious Huldufólk. This play is a glimpse into a supernatural and often violent world where everyone is still hoping to find love and joy beneath the glow of the Aurora Borealis.
May 18 - June 7, 2020
Successful careers and wildly in love - life can't get much better for Polly and Owen. Then, a mysterious new technology, promising a break from the daily grind, begins to dissipate the line between physical and digital realities. Suddenly, with a world wide rebellion biting at their heels, they are forced to confront their definitions of reality and freedom - and each other.
September 3 - September 20, 2020
Matt and Anna's relationship is going swimmingly, until the sewers under their apartment open up and begin to speak. The plumber is angry, Matt's paintings are getting stranger, and a storm is gathering. An eerie comedy about what is real, what is not, and who knows.
