The 6th annual Downtown Homewood Art & Garden Street Fair isFriday June 7 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. This year's festival boasts an outstanding musical line-up for all ages, an all-new Homewood Homebrew Beer Competition, childrens' activities, gardening workshops and a wide variety of vendors from the traditional to the funky artisans including Firecut Glass and Margaret Mosaics, outdoor art by Glassy Girls and textiles by Two Twigs among others. Also, there will be a special live yoga art demonstration on Friday afternoon by Reflections Yoga Center. The Art & Garden Street Fair takes place at Martin Ave. and Ridge Road in downtown Homewood. The Downtown Homewood Art & Garden Street Fair entertainment kicks off at noon on Friday, June 7 with award-winning childrens' indie musician Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players. This Grammy-nominated artist has just released a brand new collection of original lullabies, which he will showcase in his Homewood concert. Saturday's musical line-up begins with Chicago's own Little Miss Ann at 10:30 a.m., followed at noon by the Chicago Premiere of the king of kid-hop - Secret Agent 23 Skidoo. Fun for parents and kids alike, 23 Skidoo's positive music combines deft wordplay, great storytelling and pure positivity on top of thumping drums and sophisticated multi-instrumental arrangements. He has been featured on NPR's "All Things Considered". 23 Skidoo will perform songs from his recent release "Make Believers". 2013 also boasts the introduction of the Homewood Homebrew Beer Competition on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. (during No Love for Linus' set). Homewood's own The Grape & Grain Co. will have judges decide the top three beers as well as the most creative label. Tickets are available to sample entries. In addition to music, visitors to the Downtown Homewood Art & Garden Street Fair can participate in children's activities, gardening workshops and DIY home decor workshops.
