Devil's ThuMB Productions will present AN ADULT EVENING OF Shel Silverstein by Shel Silverstein, March 23-24 & 30-31 at the Teatro Luna Cabaret Studio, 3914 N Clark Street, in Lakeview.
"Leave the kids at home, throw all childlike notions of Shel Silverstein out the window, and enjoy a comedic evening where dead ponies are birthday presents, grandmas are thrown off boats, and prostitutes seduce with dirty rhyming schemes. AN ADULT EVENING OF Shel Silverstein is composed of 8 short plays by the late poet/folksinger and takes audiences into an adult world not found in his children works." The show also features original music inspired by Shel Silverstein's works.
"Most people have no idea that Shel Silverstein was a longtime cartoonist for Playboy," says director Alex Hughes. "This show offers audiences a completely different look at a man they thought they knew. The script is zany, intelligent, and well-written, but is far more perverse than his childhood stories and poems. People can rediscover their love for Shel Silverstein, but in a new world that is much darker and funnier than the world they knew as children."
The ensemble cast, who perform multiple roles, includes Joe Von Bokern, Nick Stockwell, Mollie Laylin, Laura Kruegel, Patrick Cooney, and Carey Folbrecht. Devil's ThuMB Productions Producing Artistic Director, Alex Hughes, directs the show.
Founded in 2010 in Boulder, Colorado by four graduates of the University of Colorado, Devil's ThuMB Productions is committed to providing opportunities to emerging artists by providing opportunities for actors, directors, designers, and playwrights to find their unique voice and gain professional experience.
