DePaul University Theatre School Presents THE STRIKER, 11/5-14

The Theatre School at DePaul University presents The Skriker, written by Caryl Churchill and directed by Jess Jung, as the first installment of the 2010-2011 New Directors Series. The production opens Friday, November 5, and runs through Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the Greenhouse Theater Center. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM.  Previews are on November 3 and November 4 at 7:30 PM.

Combining the dark folklore of the past with the high-speed urban culture of the present, Caryl Churchill's THE SKRIKER delves into a world of the cruel, the damaged, and the inhuman through the eyes of an ancient shape-shifting fairy. Director Jess Jung takes a hard look at the loss of innocence and lack of connection in our modern world.

JESS JUNG (Director): Jess is in her third and final year of the MFA Directing program. She came to The Theatre School from The Actors Theatre of Louisville where she served as Assistant Education Director. Directing credits include THE LINCOLN PROJECT: JEFFERSON COUNTY (Actors Theatre), ON THE NUGHT STUBBINWATTS JUMPED THE HEDGE by John Kuebler (Actors Theatre), LAUNDRY SERVICE by Beth Novick (Actors Theatre), SNOW ANGEL by David Lindsay-Abaire (Walden Theatre,  Louisville), and AS YOU LIKE IT (Walden Theatre). Theatre School credits include THE NINA VARIATIONS by Steven Dietz, PYGMALION by George Bernard Shaw, US DRAG by Gina Gionfriddo, and ST. SCARLET by Julia Jordan.

The cast features Pamela Davis (Skriker), Olivia Dustman (Lily), Dan Johnson (Kelpie, Bogle, Dead Child, Dark Fairy, Black Dog), Aislinn Kerchaert (Woman, Y. Brown, G. Lady, L. Girl, Annis), Sarah Price (Josie), Jeannie Saracino (Passerby), and Alex Seeley (Bucket Man, Brownie, Hag, Rawhead, J. Squarefoot).

The staff includes Jess Jung (Director), Nicole Prahin (Dramaturgy), Phil Timberlake (Vocal Coach), Paola Coletto (Movement Coach/Mask Consultant), Megan Truscott (Scenic Design), Jessica Burgwald (Costume Design), Zachary LeDuc (Lighting Design), Jeff Gary (Sound Design), and Devin M. Ruiz (Stage Management).
