THE LAKES, a one-act play by Daniel Glenn, will receive its Chicago premiere as an exclusive two-night-only acting/directing showcase at Stage 773's "The Cab" on October 23 and 24, 2018.

With their marriage on the ropes, young couple John and Gladys Lake revert back to their six-year-old selves, hiring their son's elementary school teacher to arrange a play date between them. If they can figure out what went wrong, maybe they can find a way forward together. Presented by the Inertia Theatre Project, and directed by new Chicago transplant Corey Bradberry, the cast features Matt Bartholomew, Brandon Campbell, and Devi Reisenfeld. THE LAKES is the second collaboration between Glenn and Bradberry this year, who earlier this spring received an IDEA Capital grant to workshop another of Glenn's plays in Atlanta.

"I am a major advocate for Daniel's writing, his characters are always so hilarious and heart-wrenching because they're so human," says Bradberry. "Watching John and Gladys struggle to understand each other is so funny because anyone who's ever been in a relationship has been a similar thing. At the same time, the Lakes have a struggle specific to them, and begs the audiences' empathy as the couple tries to learn to love each other again."

Opening for the play both evenings will be an excerpt from stage thriller "Three Stories Up". The excerpt, written and directed by Mackenzie Gordon, follows a transit cop investigating the murder of her husband. The evening will run approximately seventy minutes with no intermission. Tickets are available at the door, and admission is free of charge with a suggested $10 donation.
