As part of a community-wide celebration of Mark Twain, sponsored by the libraries of Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park, Dominican University Graduate School of Library Information Science Professor Janice Del Negro and students from the university's theater department will present a reading of some of Twain's lesser-known comedic works.
Del Negro, who will present excerpts from Twain's Eve's Diary, is nationally known author and storyteller who has appeared at storytelling festivals throughout the country. Her book Willa and the Wind (2005) was an American Library Association Notable Book and received the James H. Black Award for Excellence in Children's Literature. She chaired the 2007 Caldecott Award Committee in 2007.
Dominican University theatre arts students Sara Carranza, Patrick Hussey and Jaron Salazar will present selections from a number of Twain's stories. The students will be directed by Megan Wells, artistic director of The Performance Center in Oak Park and the Ray Bradbury Storytelling Festival.
