Eclectic Full Contact Theater is proud to announce its upcoming 2016-2017 season which includes, "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" (November 4 - December 4, 2016), "The History
Boys" (February 4 - March 5, 2017), and "Gideon's Knot" (June 2 - July 2, 2017).
We are excited about our upcoming productions, which will not only entertain, but also challenge our audiences! For the 5th season Eclectic has worked hard to create a season that includes challenging and diverse roles for our talented and eclectic Chicago community.
The 2016-2017 season starts off in November 2016 with DOG SEES GOD: CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD by Bert V. Royal. Good grief-your favorite cast of comic-strip kids is all grown up! Subversive and smart, fearless and funny, this unauthorized parody tackles the world as we know it, cleverly reflected through their now less-than-innocent eyes. No punches are pulled. No topics off-limits. So please: no young children. Winner of the GLAAD Media Award for Best Off-Off-Off Broadway Production, and the Excellence Award for Best Overall Production from the New York Fringe Festival. This production includes company member David Belew as director and Eclectic company members Kirk Osgood, Andy Blaustein and Laura Carney in the cast.
Opening in February 2017 is THE HISTORY BOYS by Alan Bennett. What would it take to get you excited about education? Go back to the 80s and join this uproarious class at an exclusive all-boys British prep school. If you're lucky, you'll meet the teacher who inspires you for life. If you're not, you might just have to settle for Oxford. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Play, the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play, and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Broadway Play. This production will be directed by Katherine Seigel and feature company members David Belew, Andrew Pond, Lisa Savegnago and Justin Atkinson.
The final production of the season beginning in June will be GIDEON'S KNOT by Johnna Adams. A 90- minute parent-teacher conference unfolds without intermission into one of the most suspenseful, emotional dramas in years. Face-to-face in a classroom, rocked by personal tragedy, mother and educator must confront their limitations and responsibilities. Honored with full publication in American Theatre Magazine, and recipient of a prestigious Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association Citation. This production will be directed by Katherine Seigel and feature company members Julie Partyka and Michelle Annette.
