Raue Center For The Arts is excited to announce three-time Emmy Award-winning comedian Louie Anderson will return to the stage at 8 p.m. on January 27, 2018.
Named one of the "100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time" by Comedy Central, Anderson is one of the country's most recognized and adored comics.
"I'm such a huge fan of Louie. Not only is he funny, he's a true performer," says Raue Center Executive Director, Richard Kuranda. "I think that's why the staff and community love him so much. He's always a gentleman, reminding us that we can be better - and all with humor! He is brilliant!"
Anderson began his stand-up comedy career in his native Minneapolis, where he was dared by friends to perform onstage at a Comedy Club. His big break came in 1984 when he appeared on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson." Carson was so impressed with Anderson that he called him out for a rare and coveted "second bow." This performance skyrocketed Anderson to fame.
A multi-talented performer, Anderson has worked in television and movies in addition to his live stand-up shows. He has starred in his own CBS sitcom, "The Louie Show," as well as five comedy specials for HBO and Showtime. Anderson has also guest-starred in popular sitcoms including "Scrubs" and "Grace Under Fire," and has also had memorable featured roles in films such as "Coming to America" opposite Eddie Murphy.
The multi-talented comedian and actor is also the creator and producer of the two-time Emmy Award-winning animated FOX series "Life With Louie." He currently appears on the FX comedy "Baskets" by Zach Galifinakis, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2016. He is also the author of three books, including the best-selling "Dear Dad - Letters from an Adult Child" and "The F Word: How to Survive Your Family."
