Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood of "Whose Line is it Anyway" return to the McAninch Arts Center, located at 425 Fawell Blvd., to open the MAC's 2018-2019 Season with "Scared Scriptless," Friday, Sept. 14, 8 p.m. Armed with nothing but their sharp wit, Mochrie and Sherwood take to the stage in their uproarious live improv show for a night of non-stop laughter for all ages. The Dallas Morning Star calls the show "Consistently funny and occasionally breathtaking," and The Springfield Sun News calls it "A two hour laugh riot."
Mochrie, a native of Scotland but life-long resident of Canada, is an alumnus of Toronto's Second City comedy troupe. After nine years as a regular on the British improvisation series "Whose Line Is It Anyway?," he became a regular on the American version hosted by Drew Carey, which ran for six years on ABC and three years on ABC Family. In 2011, the cast reunited in Vegas for "Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza." In 2012, ABC aired "Trust Us With Your Life," produced by the makers of "Whose Line" and co-starring Mochrie, Wayne Brady, and many of his former "Whose Line" cast members. Mochrie's first book of fiction, "Not Quite the Classics," in which he uses the first and last lines of familiar classics as a launching and landing point and re-imagines everything in between, was released by Viking, a publishing arm of Penguin Canada, in October 2013.
Sherwood, best known for his 13 seasons, as a series regular on the Emmy nominated "Whose Line Is It Anyway?," was born in Chicago and grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He graduated from Wright State University with a BFA in Acting. His first acting job was his recurring role as Ned Barron for five episodes of "L.A. Law." In 1994-95, he was a cast member on the syndicated sketch-comedy series "The Newz." His other credits include "The Drew Carey Show," "Talk Soup," "Improv-a-ganza," "The Green Screen Show," "This vs That," "The Dating Game" and "The Tonight Show."
