Everyone needs one warm coat. Unfortunately, for many people buying a new coat is not an option. For them, the old coat you are about to replace would be a much appreciated source of warmth and comfort this winter.
The Coat Drive, sponsored by the Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance, will collect any used or new adult and children's coats. The donated clothing will then go straight to Chicagoans in need at the Pacific Garden Mission on South Canal Street. "This Coat Drive is one way many of us can make a measurable difference in the lives of others this year," said Gail Dempsey, Board member of the PDNA. "We are hoping many residents and neighbors of the South Loop will bring coats on Nov 20," she said.
Café Society, a local dining hang out in the community, will be giving a FREE cup of coffee for anyone who donates a coat at the Café on Nov. 20. "We are happy to help our community and get into the giving spirit this year," said Jorge Armando, the owner of Café Society.
WHAT TO DONATE:The Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance will be accepting coats of all sizes adults, boys and girls. *Tax receipts will be available upon request.
WHEN TO DONATE: November 20, 2010 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. This is the season to give, so please give someone a warm coat to wear this winter.
WHERE TO DONATE: To make donations easy for members of the South Loop community, the PDNA will be at Café Society located at 1801 S. Indiana Avenue, Chicago, IL 60616.
