Chicago's most dynamic women come together June 9 for Goodman Theatre's annual Women's Night, a special evening to celebrate the city's powerful "leading ladies" in the arts and business. The event begins with a 5:30pm networking reception at Petterino's and continues with a 7:30pm performance of The Crowd You're In With at the Goodman. The lead sponsor for Women's Night is Abbott. The contributing sponsor for the event is Macy's Foundation. Event Sponsors include Allstate, Exelon, Fifth Third Bank, Leo Burnett and U.S. Cellular. Women's Night sponsors include Board Vice President Kristin Anderson-Schewe, Board Chairman Shawn M. Donnelley, Board Vice Chairman Vicki Hood and Trustees Beth Bronner Singer and Dia S. Weil.
Chicago playwright Rebecca Gilman's The Crowd You're In With, directed by Wendy C. Goldberg, concludes the Goodman's "Strong Women, Strong Voices" three-play series of works written and directed by women (which also included the Pulitzer Prize-winning Ruined by Lynn Nottage and Naomi Iizuka's Ghostwritten). The Crowd You're In With follows three couples at a 4th of July barbeque in the backyard of a Chicago two-flat. Friendly conversation turns into a heated debate when the topics of babies, family and parenthood enter the scene. The Crowd You're In With portrays a relevant depiction of young working couples and the decision of parenting in the Chicagoloand area.
