InnateVolution Theater Productions in Chicago will present Ntozake Shange's FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF from June 14 to June 26.  The production will be directed by Toma Tavares Langston with choreography by Shawn Quinlan.

The play will be performed on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm at The Call (1547 West Bryn Mawr Avenue).  The Call is ages 21+ and identification is required.  Previews will be held on June 14 and 16, and opening night will be June 17.  There will be no performance on June 24.  Tickets cost $20, which includes  2 well, house wine or Miller drinks.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.innatevolution.org or call 312-513-1415.

First performed in Berkeley, California in 1974, Ntozake Shange's staged poem For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf played at the Joseph Papp Public Theatre before opening on Broadway in 1976. The collection of poems performed by women of color--each identified by the hue of her clothes--creates a unified statement about being a woman of color, being alive, and being an American. The work's tales of love, violence, abortion, rape, and healing are as searing and relevant today as they were thirty years ago.

In addition to those previously mentioned, assistant director Toni Lynice Fountain, prop manager Mary Aurora Moore; costume designers Raymond K. Cleveland & Rozetta Cleveland are part of this production's creative team.  The cast features Sherly Marie Daceus, Shemika Phillips, Afra Williams, Delicia Dunham, Angela A. Johnson, LaTia McPherson, and Jennifer Bradford.
