Chicago's company of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has formally announced it will continue performances at the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place through the summer.  The widely acclaimed and Tony award-winning Broadway musical comedy will extend in a limited engagement from April 18 – September 2.  Tickets are now on-sale at the box office, online at ticketmaster.com or by calling (312) 902-1400 or (312) 642-2000.

Jim Jensen, producer for the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place says, "On behalf of the entire Drury Lane team we are all pleased Spelling Bee can continue its successful long-running engagement in Chicago."

"In this hilariously hip musical comedy, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser," state press materials.

The wildly popular and especially themed "game night" and "parent/teacher" performances will also keep going into the summer months on a regularly scheduled basis.  Pre-show 'game night' competitions, pitting audience members against one another in classic and not-so-classic word-inspired board games (including the first-of-its-kind and one-and-only Hungry, Hungry Hippos Spelling Bee Championship!) will be offered before each Wednesday evening performance at 6 p.m. in the theatre lobby.

Following the sold-out success of previous "parent/teacher" night performances, Spelling Bee will go blue on the first Friday of each month starting June 1.  "At these special one-night performances the Bee contains very mature and downright filthy material and will be for adults only – the kids should once again stay home and do their homework."

The show will perform a limited summer engagement from April 18 through September 2 at Chicago's Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place, located at 175 East Chestnut Street.  Individual tickets range in price from $25 - $69.50 and are on-sale now at the Drury Lane Box Office (175 East Chestnut Street) as well as all Broadway In Chicago Box Offices (24 W. Randolph St., 151 W. Randolph St. and 18 W. Monroe St.), through the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at (312) 902-1400, the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place phone line at (312) 642-2000, at all Ticketmaster ticket centers or online at www.ticketmaster.com.  Groups of 20 or more may receive a discount by calling (312) 977-1710.
