Following the critically acclaimed premiere in 2017, the Chicago Philharmonic, Visceral Dance Chicago, and award-winning choreographer Nick Pupillo will reunite once again for The Dream on April 29 at the new venue of the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. The striking reimagining of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's "The Dream of a Ridiculous Man", in which the orchestra and dancers share the stage to tell the classical Russian tale of redemption and renewal, was hailed as "...a joy..." by Chicago Tribune and See Chicago Dance called it "...a dream come true" at last year's premiere.

Dostoyevsky's story of a man disenchanted with living in the world, who dreams of being transported to a place far away inhabited with peaceful celestial beings, features Nick Pupillo's original choreography performed by the contemporary dancers of Visceral Dance Chicago. The program also features a diverse range of musical selections, ranging from works by recent 2018 Academy Award-nominee Jonny Greenwood, Pytor Illych Tchaikovsky, Ennio Morricone, and more, selected by Chicago Philharmonic Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Scott Speck.

After working together on previous projects, in 2016 Chicago Philharmonic suggested a full collaboration between the two leading arts companies, where "the dance and music are equal partners" (Scott Speck). Visceral Dance Artistic Director Nick Pupillo provided the brilliant scenario and "inventive, distinct" (Splash Magazine) choreography, while Chicago Philharmonic curated the concert program, culminating in the March 5 2017 premiere of the work at Harris Theater Chicago.

Joining Chicago Philharmonic and Visceral Dance Chicago will once again be soprano Martha Guth. North Shore Center for the Performing Arts included The Dream in their 2018-2019 Feature Series.
