A Weekend Round up of Chicago's Best Performances
My Fair Cabaret
On Monday, Feb. 18th, the Chicago Cabaret Professionals presented My Fair Cabaret at the Drury Lane Theatre at Watertower Place. Billed as the launch of Musical Mondays On The Magnificent Mile, the performance showcased the music of Loesser, Lerner and Loewe in two acts. Speaking with a member of the CCP Board, the hope is to develop the event from a quarterly event into a regularly offered cabaret showcase for seasoned and up and coming cabaret performers.
Some highlights from Monday night include outstanding performances by: Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael for " I Hear Music", Jeanne Scherkenbach for "I Said No", Heather Moran for "Adelaide's Lament", David Edelfelt for "Luck Be A Lady/Never Will I Marry", Joel Kapishke for "Sit Down Your Rocking The Boat" and Carla Gordon in "Business Without Really Trying". Act two standout performances included: Laura Freeman for "The Night They Invented Champaign", Daryl Nitz for "My Mother's Wedding Day/ There's Always One You Can't Forget", Joan Curto for " Wouldn't It Be Loverly?", Bradford Thacker and Suzanne Petri for "I Remember It Well/Thank Heaven For Little Girls", Bob Moreen for "Wait Till We're Sixty Five", and Claudia Hommel in " I Could Have Danced All Night".
