The 18th annual Chicago Artists Month (CAM) is celebrating artists "In the Neighborhood" starting September 27-29 and running through October - with hundreds of exhibitions, openings, open studios, art walks, performances and opportunities for learning/making. Each weekend, CAM focuses on a different neighborhood with a series of art events in curated by a local arts expert.

The 2013 CAM Featured Neighborhoods and their curators are as follows:

Sept 27-29 Edgewater/Uptown Tricia Van Eck
Oct 4-6 Portage Park Cyd Smillie
Oct 11-13 South Chicago Margarita Guerra
South Shore Allyson Scrutchens
Oct 18-20 Pilsen/Little Village Brenda Hernandez
Oct 25-27 East Garfield Park Edra Soto

Across these eight neighborhoods, the City of Chicago is shining a light on 14 Featured Artists, as well.

Chicago's physical and historical characteristics are the playground of The Edgewater community resident and artist Deborah Boardman. "Chicago is a place where artists continue to extend and invigorate themselves and each other with new and surprising forms of creativity," said Boardman. Boardman's passion for historic aesthetic arts is easily expressed through her recent work of art, Dowsed Map of Edgewater and Uptown, which will be on display at The American Dream: The (W)Holy Grail, the official opening exhibition of Chicago Artists Month, September 27-29, 6-9 p.m., at FLATS Studio, 1050 W. Wilson.
