In February 2017, Tympanic Theatre Company will present WAITING FOR GODOT by Samuel Beckett. Our production, directed by Aaron Mays, will feature an all-Latino cast - exploring the similarities between the elusive "Godot" and the Latinx experience in the pursuit of the "American Dream."

The second production of Tympanic's tenth season, WAITING FOR GODOT opens February 13, 2017 and runs through March 12, 2017 at Berry United Methodist Church, 4754 N Leavitt St. in Chicago. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8 PM, and Sundays at 7 PM.

Tickets are available for reservation at www.tympanictheatre.org or by calling our box office at (929) 329-2934. All tickets are Pay-What-You-Can. Press is invited to attend on Monday, February 13, or any night during the run.

WAITING FOR GODOT will feature Christopher Acevedo* (Vladimir), Felipe Carrasco (Estragon), Christian Castro (Pozzo), Jordan Arredondo (Lucky), and Raymond Hutchison* (Boy).

WAITING FOR GODOT, which first premiered in 1953, marked Beckett's association with the Theatre of the Absurd movement. More than sixty years later, the play's central existential crises are still resonant and incredibly relevant.

"As a company that bills itself as "the best kind of weird," this play could not be a more perfect or timely fit for us," remarked Artistic Director, Christopher Acevedo. "The story is notably open to a variety of philosophical, political and ethical interpretations, and the themes that emerge throughout all of these interpretations are that of choice, consciousness and suffering. The universality of these ideas led us to reimagine the play through the lens of the U.S. Latinx experience and to amplify the voices of a marginalized community through this classic piece of dramatic literature."

The production team for WAITING FOR GODOT includes: Kelsey Chigas* (assistant director), Eleanor Kahn (scenic design), Emily Watson (costume design), Claire Sangster (lighting design), Holly McCauley* (prop design), Kristin Davis (production manager), and Becky Warner (stage manager).

Aaron Mays (director) is an emerging writer and director in Chicago. Most recently, he directed Tug of War (CIRCA Pintig), a series of short plays on war, trauma and immigration. He has worked with Chicago's top directors, serving as the assistant director for such productions as Two Trains Running (Goodman Theatre), Waiting for Godot (Court Theatre), Seven Guitars (Court Theatre) and Whorl Inside a Loop (Second Stage). As a writer, Aaron's plays include Black Santa, Hush Hush, The Sons of Tennessee and The Street Corner. Aaron is a proud graduate of Northwestern University.

Now in its tenth season, Tympanic Theatre Company was founded in 2007 by alumni of Florida State University. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Christopher Acevedo and Managing Director Caroline Ruark, Tympanic Theatre Company is dedicated to producing new and developed work that contains both weird and fantastical subject matter. We create immersive, visceral worlds that provoke, inspire and entertain. Through our Pay-What-You-Can initiative, we strive to engage diverse audiences without the barrier of a high ticket price.

Nationally recognized for our inventive, genre-defying work, in our tenth anniversary season we aim to tell stories that reflect the vibrant, transformative face of Chicago.
