In its Sophomore season, Pulse Theatre Company Chicago announces the cast for its fall play, George C. Wolfe's "The Colored Museum", which will open its 2016/2017 season. The cast includes BTAA Nominee, Demetra Drayton (Miss Pat/ Normal Jean Reynolds/ Lady in Plaid, Topsy Washington) , Ben F. Locke (Miss Roj, Walter Lee Beau Willie Jones, Guy, The Kid), Ekia Thomas (Lala LaMazing Grace/Janine/Medea/Girl), Jelani West (Junie Robinson/The Man/ The Narrator/Flo'Rance) and Emmy Award Winner, Deanna Reed-Foster (Aunt Ethel/Mama/LaWanda/Admonia). The production is co-directed by Pulse Theatre's Artistic Director, Jeff Award and BTAA nominee, Aaron Mitchell Reese and Jeff Award Winner Donterrio Johnson.
Pulse Theatre Company was founded by Artistic Director, Aaron Mitchell Reese and Producing Artistic Director, Christopher Jackson in the fall of 2014. Reese explains, "Our mission is to ambitiously tell stories with a unique outlook and visceral honesty to the human experience. I believe George C. Wolfe's play not only embodies our mission statement, but also takes a deep look into the African American culture and subcultures, through a satirical lens." The production also introduces a new partnership between Pulse Theatre and eta Creative Arts Foundation. A partnership that promises to be a fruitful emergence of the wise, nurturing and catering to the new.
The creative team also includes Musical Direction by Andrew Blendermann, David Robbins (Assistant Director), Emmy Weldon (Scenic Design), Pablo Ponce (Scenic Design), Jos N. Banks (Costume Designer), Darryl Goodman (Technical Director), and Patricia Moore (Stage Manager). Undestudies: Taylor Iman Carter, Kai Ealy, and Miciah Long.
