Cast Announced For The World Premiere Of MAN OF THE PEOPLE By Dolores Díaz ImageThree Cat Productions presents the world premiere of the Dolores Díaz's play Man of the People at the Chicago Park District's Berger Park Coach House Theater at 6205 N. Sheridan Road (Edgewater by Granville el stop on Red Line).

Man of the People is directed by Jason Paul Smith, Three Cat Productions, Artistic Director and stars Andrew Carlile, Javier Carmona, Jay Españo, Harsh J. Gagoomal, Carolyn Nelson, and Bethany Weise.

The production team included dramaturgy by Jeremy Schaefer, literary management by Wendy Schmidt, music consultant by Roy A Freeman, lighting designer by Pat Henderson, costume and set design by Jason Paul Smith, and stage management by Julia Heeren.

Man of the People considers the incredible rise and fall of John Romulus Brinkley, an American "doctor" who grew to notoriety for selling a boost for male virility in the 1920s known as the "goat gland cure." Bolstered to fame through his uncanny knack for radio, men sang Brinkley's praises and women credited their children to his intervention, but one man - Dr. Morris Fishbein of the American Medical Association - dedicated his life to seeing Brinkley burn. A tale of two giants going head to head as a populace decides, Man of the People is a true story about what happens when most everyone believes they are right.

"Man of the People is a new play that explores the curious success of an American charlatan, Dr. John Brinkley," states Jason Paul Smith, Three Cat Productions Artistic Director. "With parallels to our current administration and the rise of reality TV, audiences will be fascinated by the story of the first 'reality star'."
