The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that transports Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to modern-day New York City, where two idealistic young lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs: the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their ensuing struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching - and still-relevant - musical dramas of our time.

Under the direction of Suzanne Aldridge, with choreography by Becky Murphy and music by Aaron Kaplan, WEST SIDE STORY features the talents of over 50 local young performers (from Champaign, Mahomet, Savoy, Tolono and Urbana).
