Chicago Opera Theater (COT) is proud of its commitment to students and young people by making ticket prices affordable.

For over 12 years, Chicago Opera Theater has offered half-price tickets to full-time college students and youth under 18 in most sections. In 2008, COT expanded their Student Ticket Program by offering $15 student rush tickets to full-time college students for any available seat in the house. This season COT introduces the Student Ambassador program - find 3 friends to purchase 3 half-price student tickets, and you go for free!

In addition to the Student Ticket Program, Chicago Opera Theater created their young professionals club, Opera Underground, five years ago. Opera Underground offers half-price tickets on Wednesday evenings, which includes a reception at The Gage before the opera!

"I believe to be enormously important that young people come to what I consider to be the greatest of all performing art forms," said General Director Brian Dickie. "I hope that these programs create a new generation of opera lovers and future subscribers of Chicago Opera Theater."

Chicago Opera Theater specializes in fresh interpretations of classic operas to make the story as universal and relatable as the day it was first performed. Chicago Opera Theater also specializes in 21st century new work as well. The 2010 Spring Festival Season is no exception and includes Rossini's Moses in Egypt (April 17-25), Cavalli's Jason (Giasone), a James Bond take on the story of Jason and the Argonauts (April 24-May 2), and the Midwest premiere of Jake Heggie's Three Decembers (May 8-16) featuring the legendary Frederica von Stade in her final Chicago appearances before retirement.

Chicago Opera Theater performs at The Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park - 205 East Randolph Drive.
