Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation (LSCRF) named model, movie star, TV actress, Broadway performer and bestselling author Brooke Shields as the newly-named Guest Speaker at its Annual Fall Benefit Luncheon today, October 17th beginning at 11 a.m. at the Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan Ave. (Diane Keaton, who was originally scheduled, cancelled due to a new movie commitment). Proceeds will support innovative contributions to breast cancer research and educational programs, as well as fellowships, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.

In addition to being the ultimate multi-hyphenate, Brooke Shields has won two Golden Globe nominations and five People’s Choice Awards. She also is a wife and mother and like most today, is trying to find balance while juggling her busy personal and professional life. The former child-star has been through her share of ups and downs and has found that her resilience and perseverance have powered her through some of life’s most challenging times. Some people say adversity builds character, but Shields feels adversity reveals character. She has learned to take the best, get rid of the rest, and move on. She is truly an inspirational voice of our time.

LSCRF, Chicago’s breast cancer organization, also will “Light The City Pink,” turning Chicago’s skyline pink to raise awareness throughout the month of October.
