Broadway in Chicago Adds SISTER ACT, THE GRINCH to 2012 Season

Broadway In Chicago just announced three additional shows: SISTER ACT and Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL will be part of the upcoming 2012 Broadway In Chicago Season Series and LES MISÉRABLES will be an Off-Season Special.

SISTER ACT (2012 Season Show)

The Chicago premiere of the critically acclaimed, Broadway record breaking production Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL features the hit songs "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" (written by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss) from the original animated series. Max the Dog narrates this classic holiday tale that will entertain the whole family as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small," decides to steal Christmas away from the Whos, an endlessly cheerful bunch bursting with holiday spirit.

Dr. Seuss' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL broke box office records for two consecutive years on Broadway during its holiday engagements at the St. James (2007) and Hilton (2006) theatres in New York. Since then, thousand of families across America have been delighted by this heart-warming holiday musical, which The New York Times praised as "100 times better than any bedside story" and the Gannett papers hailed as "A genius of a show! A total delight for both kids and adults."

Magnificent sets (John Lee Beatty) and costumes (Robert Morgan) inspired by Dr. Seuss' original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, while the Music and Book of Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. The 2012 production is directed by Matt August and choreographed by Bob Richard based on the original choreography by John DeLuca and originally created by three-time Tony Award® winning director Jack O'Brien.

Due to popular demand, Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of LES MISÉRABLES will return to Chicago at the Cadillac Palace Theatre for a limited three-week engagement, Nov. 14 - Dec. 2, 2012.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh's reimagined production of Boublil and Schönberg's LES MISÉRABLES has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer from the original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, additional material by James Fenton and original adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird. The original LES MISÉRABLES orchestrations are by John Cameron with new orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke and additional orchestrations by Stephen Metcalfe and Stephen Brooker. The production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell, designed by Matt Kinley inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo with costumes by Andreane Neofitou and additional costumes by Christine Rowlands, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, musical staging by Michael Ashcroft and projections by Fifty-Nine Productions.

Seen by nearly 60 million people worldwide in 42 countries and in 21 languages, LES MISÉRABLES is undisputedly one of the world's most popular musicals ever written, with new productions continuing to open around the globe. There have been 36 cast recordings of LES MISÉRABLES, including a multi-platinum London cast recording, a Grammy Award-winning Broadway cast album, complete symphonic albums, and the live recording of the new 25th Anniversary production.
