Noises Off
October 30 - November 15, 2015
Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall at North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth Avenue in Naperville
by Michael Frayn |directed by David Belew
What better way to kick off our season of farce with a show that's been enjoyed by millions of people worldwide and hailed as one of the funniest farces ever written - Noises Off. This celebrated play serves up a hilarious romp of a comedy within a comedy, hurtling along at breakneck speed and following the backstage antics of a touring theatre company presenting "Nothing's On" as they stumble their way through rehearsals, to a shambolic opening night and to their disastrous final performance. Doors slamming, on and off stage love triangles, falling trousers, flubbed lines, forgotten props, missed entrances, a whiskey loving actor and flying sardines all wickedly figure into the plot of what can happen on the other side of the curtain. The resulting chaos will have you helpless with laughter.
Not Now, Darling
February 19 - March 6, 2016
Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall at North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth Avenue in Naperville
by Ray Cooney and John Chapman |director TBA
The laughs continue when we return to playwright Ray Cooney who authored BrightSide Theatre's inaugural show "Run For Your Wife" with his hilarious farce - Not Now, Darling. This madcap British farce about mistresses and minks set in the exclusive London fur salon of Bodley, Bodley and Crouch makes enormous good fun at what happens when the owner, Gilbert Bodley tries to secure the affections of his would-be mistress by "selling" her husband an expensive fur coat for a fraction of its cost. His plan blows up when the husband wants to purchase the coat for his mistress, and the fur really flies! Soon you have husbands, lovers, suspicious wives and gorgeous girls wearing nothing but their underwear entangled in this plot filled with mistaken identities, scantily-clad ladies hiding in closets, mobsters and misguided shoppers. Filled with fun and frolic, everyone gets their just desserts just as you would expect from these two master writers of farce, Ray Cooney and John Chapman.

Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall at North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth Avenue in Naperville

The perfect finale to our 5th Anniversary Season is the outrageous musical comedy featuring the song that gave BrightSide Theatre its namesake and is lovingly ripped off from the motion picture "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"- Spamalot. This hysterically irreverent musical tells the tale of King Arthur being instructed by God Himself to gather his Knights of the Round Table and find the Holy Grail. It features a bevy of beautiful showgirls, not to mention flying cows, killer rabbits, flatulent Frenchmen, one legless knightand several show-stopping musical numbers including "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "The Song That Goes Like This". Did we mention the bevy of beautiful showgirls? Labeled as one of the greatest Broadway Musicals of the modern age you'll be in stitches as you watch the Knights of the Round Table go on this ultimate and unforgettable quest only as Monty Python can provide as they search for the Holy Grail.
