BrightSide Theatre, Naperville's only professional theatre performing in the historic downtown district, presents the perfect finale to our 5th Anniversary Season with the outrageous musical comedy featuring the song that gave BrightSide Theatre its name and is lovingly ripped off from the motion picture "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"- Spamalot.
Spamalot is the hysterically irreverent musical that tells the tale of King Arthur being instructed by God Himself to gather his Knights of the Round Table and find the Holy Grail. It features a bevy of beautiful showgirls, not to mention flying cows, killer rabbits, flatulent Frenchmen, one legless knight and several show-stopping musical numbers including "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "The Song That Goes Like This". Labeled as one of the greatest Broadway Musicals of the modern age you'll be in stitches as you watch the Knights of the Round Table go on this ultimate and unforgettable quest only as Monty Python can provide as they search for the Holy Grail.
BrightSide Theatre Pays it Forward: It has always been a goal for BrightSide Theatre to give back to the community and the area that supports us and our work. Each season we choose one of our productions and align ourselves with a fellow not for profit organization that connects to either the theme or subject of the show. We give the opportunity for our audiences to become aware about a charitable organization in their community that they might not know about. Past charities have included Loaves and Fishes Community Food Pantry, 360 Youth Services, Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA), and DuPage County Toys for Tots.
This season with Spamalot we are proud to align with Naperville CARES. Naperville CARES, a 501(c)3 organization, was formed and began serving the community in 1999 by helping local families in financial crisis meet their essential needs by providing emergency financial support and resources. Besides helping residents pay for basic needs like rent and utilities, CARES also started a unique Car Program that repairs vehicles that have been donated by members of the community and then gives them to families who lack reliable transportation to get to work.
CARES has developed strong partnerships with area congregations as well as government and social service agencies so that services are coordinated and not duplicated. CARES' values of compassion, respect, stewardship, integrity and collaboration are at the core of every interaction with and on behalf of clients in our community.
Tickets to a production in our 2016-2017 season, will be given away at each performance of SPAMALOT for those who generously offer a monetary donation to the Naperville CARES.
