BoHo Theatre brings Adam Guettel's rarely-produced song cycle Myths & Hymns to life with an original narrative concept, directed by Peter Robel with musical direction by Nick Sula. Myths & Hymns represents the Bohemian Pillar of Beauty in BoHo's 2013/2014 Season.

A young couple, recently married and with very different outlooks on the world, must grapple with the sudden changes in their lives created by both a new pregnancy and a devastating death. The young man, like the heroes of Greek and Roman mythology, finds meaning in his accomplishments and individuality, while the young woman sees the world through the community of her Christian faith. Together, they must confront their own strengths and limitations in order to understand the universe into which they are introducing a new child.

Myths & Hymns is told almost entirely through the music of Tony and Drama Desk award-winning composer Adam Guettel, best known as the composer and lyricist of The Light in the Piazza andFloyd Collins. Using such diverse genres as folk, electric jazz, piano ballads, gospel, and Christian hymns, the show takes on questions of existence that man has been struggling with for thousands of years.

Director Peter Robel and Music Director Nick Sula, in collaboration with an ensemble cast, have created a challenging and inspirational original narrative using Adam Guettel's song cycle as both inspiration and foundation. Traditionally performed as a concert piece, BoHo Theatre's artistic team is one of the first to use the songs as the basis for an original story, focusing on a young couple's search for what lies behind this life and how searching can both unite us and drive us apart. Challenging and original, BoHo's production of Myth & Hymns is guaranteed to be unlike any version you've ever seen before.

The cast of Myths & Hyms features Sydney Charles, Matt McNabb, Stephanie Souza, Neil Stratman, Elizabeth Telford, and Kevin Webb. The production team features producer Meg Love, Scenic Design by Eleanor Kahn, Lighting Design by Megan Turnquist, Costume Design by kClare Kemock, and Props Design by Cassy Schillo

BoHo Theatre's mission is to create bold theatre that challenges convention through innovative storytelling and unites artist and audience in the examination of Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Love through the lens of human relationships. Its vision is to create a shared community of artists and patrons in which all members are moved through art to make thoughtful, well-examined, caring relationships the highest priority in their lives.

BoHo's 2013/2014 season features Veronica's Room by Ira Levin at the Heartland Studio,Amadeus by Peter Schaffer at Stage 773, Myths & Hymns by Adam Guettel, and Parade by Alfred Uhry and Jason Robert Brown at Theater Wit. More information at www.BoHoTheatre.com.
