Black Box Acting, Chicago's boutique training program "dedicated to creating the fearless actor," has announced the launch of its second school: THE ACADEMY, the City's only regimented nine-month acting conservatory program. This professional acting program trains students to apply the Black Box Method through an intensive and individualized approach. Training spans every aspect of the industry, culminating in a final performance directed by industry professionals.

Applications for THE ACADEMY will be accepted February 7, 2012 – April 20, 2012, with the inaugural class commencing in September 2012. Admission is highly selective and based on an actor's application, audition and interview. "The Academy is nine-months of blood, sweat and tears that will revolutionize a student's acting process," comments Black Box Co-Founder Audrey Francis. "Ideal Academy candidates will be ready topush themselves to a new level of honesty in their acting," adds Black Box Co-Founder Laura Hooper.

Black Box Acting will also continue to offer coursework through THE STUDIO, which is celebrating its third year of operation. THE STUDIO provides students great flexibility to study the Black Box Method, with most classes following a four-week format. These highly intensive sessionsallow students to immediately take their work out of the classroom and into the industry. BLACK BOX ACTING & THE BLACK BOX METHOD

Black Box Acting was founded in January 2009 by Audrey Francis and Laura Hooper. The boutique acting studio began in Chicago with only 12 students and two classes. Three years later, it now supports over 400 students through its two schools-THE STUDIO and THE ACADEMY-catering to theatre professionals, beginners and non-actors.

The Black Box Method of training follows a regimented and streamlined curriculum based on the Meisner Technique. This Method unleashes physical and emotional impulses, frees the imagination, builds stamina, focus and endurance, while training actors to live truthfully and fearlessly under imagined circumstances. Black Box trains actors to Work Hard and Be Fearless.
